On April 5, the “Sustainable Business in Kazakhstan” round table was held. The facilitator is the UN in Kazakhstan.


Goals:

• Business support to advance the sustainable development agenda in Kazakhstan
• Raising awareness of the business community about the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Global Compact
• Demonstration of effective sustainable business practices in Kazakhstan

• Discussing forms of business cooperation with the UN, including by acceding to the Global Compact.


UN Global Compact:

The UN Global Compact's capabilities and global business network support businesses in sustainability and develop mission-driven innovation to meet development challenges.

Members of the UN Global Compact have already aligned their strategies and operations with the ten universal principles related to human rights, labor, the environment and the combating corruption. They are already taking actions that contribute to the achievement of social goals and the implementation of the SDGs.

Timur Turlov spoke at the Sustainable Financing and Responsible Investment session with “Supporting the Principles of Sustainable Development in Freedom Holding Corp.” presentation.
Together with the CEO of Freedom Holding Corp. the session was attended by Mr. Rayad Yusuf, partner at Goldman Sachs from the London office; Murat Uzakbayevich Koshenov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Halyk Bank JSC

Looking back:

1. In the fall of 2022, the ESG Department was established to monitor and manage sustainability activities.
2. On October 3, 2022, Freedom Finance Global joined the National ESG Club.
3. Freedom Broker has joined the UN Global Compact initiative, and committed to its principles.
4. In 2023, the company is planning the first release of the 2022 Sustainability Report.

In 2023-2027, the Holding sets a goal to invest KZT 200 billion in ESG bonds at the international/national level.
