Freedom analysts have issued an investment case for shares of American biotech Upstream Bio (UPB), setting a target price of $11 per share with a current price of around $7.30. The upside potential is estimated at 50.7%; the recommendation is Buy. Upstream Bio specializes in developing drugs for the treatment of severe inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract.
The company’s main asset is Verekitug, a monoclonal antibody for the treatment of severe asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. In the coming months, the company will be holding consultations with the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) regarding the drug’s development.
Analysts also note that Verekitug has blockbuster potential, with annual sales exceeding $1 billion. It is the expectations of further promotion of the drug and clarification of the regulatory pathway that may stimulate the company’s share growth in the coming months.
According to Freedom analysts, the market reacted too negatively to the results of the Phase II VALIANT study. Investors were disappointed by the drug’s efficacy when administered once every six months; however, the quarterly administration regimen demonstrated strong results and a notable convenience advantage compared to existing drugs.
An additional advantage of the drug is its mechanism of action. Unlike the competing drug Tezspire, Upstream Bio’s development provides a longer and more pronounced therapeutic effect. In the study on chronic rhinosinusitis, the drug significantly reduced disease severity and decreased the need for surgical intervention or systemic corticosteroids by 76%.
The key event for investors in mid‑2026 will be the company’s negotiations with the FDA following the Phase II trials. Freedom expects that the regulator will help define the parameters of future registration trials and confirm the possibility of broad drug application without restrictions on patient biomarkers.
Not an individual investment recommendation.
