Apple (AAPL) and Intel (INTC) have reached a preliminary agreement to collaborate on the development and manufacturing of semiconductors in the United States. Intel will produce a portion of the chips used in Apple devices. Freedom Broker analysts note that the partnership aligns with Washington’s strategy to bolster domestic semiconductor capacity and reduce reliance on foreign supply sources.
Negotiations between the companies lasted over a year, and the parties have been able to reach a formal agreement in recent months. The project is being implemented with support from the U.S. administration and is aimed, among other things, at mitigating risks in supply chains and addressing price pressures that have emerged amid the rapid growth in demand for chips used in artificial intelligence systems.
Freedom Broker believes the collaboration will strengthen Intel’s position in the contract semiconductor manufacturing market and expand its involvement in the localization of high‑tech products. For Apple, the agreement opens additional opportunities to diversify its supply base and enhance control over its own ecosystem.
The market reacted positively to the partnership prospects: at the close of the previous trading session, Intel shares surged by 10.6 % and became one of the top gainers in the S&P 500. According to Freedom Broker analysts, investor interest reflects expectations of further strengthening of the U.S. semiconductor industry amid rising demand for computing capacity and AI solutions.
