Anthropic (ANTP) announced the launch of an in-house drug development program and unveiled the Claude Science platform designed to conduct scientific research. Anthropic is the developer of the Claude AI model and one of OpenAI’s largest competitors. Freedom Global analyst Vladimir Chernov notes that the launch of Claude Science takes Anthropic beyond the traditional generative AI market into biotechnology and healthcare.
Claude Science is also focused on finding treatments for rare and under-researched diseases. Freedom believes the new direction confirms the effectiveness of the strategy of Anthropic’s крупнейших investors — Amazon and Google, which have invested tens of billions of dollars in the startup. According to analysts, the company is gradually building an independent product ecosystem with long-term value rather than limiting investments solely to computing infrastructure.
Anthropic intends to use the new platform not only to work with external clients but also to conduct its own research, demonstrating the practical effectiveness of its technologies to pharmaceutical companies.
The expert notes that entering the medical development market gives Anthropic access to a multi-billion-dollar segment with high growth potential. An additional factor in the company’s appeal may be business diversification ahead of a possible IPO, which, according to media reports, could take place at a valuation of around $1 trillion.
This is not an individual investment recommendation.
