Trump administration considers ban on Chinese data center equipment

The Trump administration is drafting a proposal to ban imports into the United States of new models of Chinese equipment for data centers, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. 

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which oversees the U.S. telecommunications industry, is developing a measure aimed at banning the import of new Chinese optical transceivers that transmit data through fiber-optic cables at the speed of light within data centers. The FCC has already imposed similar restrictions on Chinese drones, routers, robots, and inverters.
