On August 4, Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) reported Q2 profit of $3.593 billion ($7.77 per share) compared with $2.18 billion ($4.62 per share) a year earlier. Adjusted profit was $8.17 per share.
Revenue for the reporting period rose to $20.5 billion from $16.57 billion, surpassing the $20 billion mark for the first time in the company’s history. Based on preliminary forecasts, earnings were expected at $6.19 per share on revenue of $19.24 billion. The construction industries segment led the growth, with sales volume jumping 35% to $8.3 billion, driven primarily by higher equipment sales to end users in North America.
The company raised its full-year revenue growth outlook range from “low double-digit” to “mid-to-high in the 10–19% range.” The current consensus revenue forecast for 2026 of $77.01 billion implies growth of 13.9%.
