In the second quarter of 2026, Samsung took first place in DRAM market share, reaching 39%, according to data from Counterpoint Research’s Global Memory Tracker report.
A year ago, the company had ceded leadership to SK hynix. Now, SK hynix’s market share has fallen to 26% from 39% in Q2 2025, despite a 214% rise in quarterly revenue. Micron, part of the “big three” memory suppliers, also posted strong quarterly results, competing with SK hynix for second place with a 25% share.
Counterpoint noted that in Q2 2026, prices for conventional DRAM rose sharply compared with the previous quarter, while HBM prices declined compared with last year. This drop in the average price was especially noticeable for HBM3E products, amid delays in the HBM4 launch. However, relatively low HBM prices are expected to rise sharply next year following the increase in conventional DRAM prices. HBM4 shipment volumes began to increase in the third quarter of 2026 as deliveries of the latest GPU-based racks powered by NVIDIA Vera Rubin and AMD Instinct MI455X began.
