The number of mortgage loan applications filed in the United States last week rose by 3,6% compared with the previous week on a seasonally adjusted basis, the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) said on Wednesday. The refinancing index increased by 5%, the MBA said. The measure is 22% below year-ago levels. The average rate on a 30-year mortgage понизилась to 6.77% from 6.81%.
“Last week, mortgage rates edged slightly lower as oil prices briefly fell amid hopes for a durable settlement of the war in Iran,” said MBA Vice President Joel Kan. “As refinance incentives have diminished and rates remain at current levels, the average loan size for refinance applications fell to the lowest level since July 2025,” Kan added.
