Nvidia to invest up to $105 billion in OpenAI data center

Nvidia Corp. has agreed to provide up to $105 billion to support a new large data-center complex in Ohio that OpenAI plans to lease, according to official financial filings.

OpenAI will gain access to the complex’s computing capacity in Pike County of up to roughly 8 gigawatts, with the first 800 megawatts expected to come online by 2028. OpenAI said it will begin making payments only as capacity becomes available for lease. Nvidia will support “certain portions of lease payments and electricity payments,” and also agreed to invest $1.5 billion in SB Energy Corp.—the developer that will also own the facility.
