Apple has announced new commission terms in the App Store in the European Union, which are intended to settle the European Commission’s claims.
Alternative third-party app stores in the EU will be charged a 5% fee on in-app purchases, which, according to the iPhone maker, will “settle” disagreements with regulators that arose in connection with the implementation of the EU’s Digital Markets Act.
For app purchases via the App Store using Apple’s system, a 26% commission will be charged on digital goods and services. The commission varies depending on where the payment is processed. The new rules will replace the more complex system Apple proposed last year. The new commission tiers take effect on 1 October.
