Alcoa. Everything Is Looking Up
Aluminum giant’s shares look attractive with a $60 price target
About the Company
Alcoa Corporation is one of the world’s largest vertically integrated aluminum producers, operating across the bauxite, alumina and primary aluminum value chain.

Key Investment Theses
1. Growing aluminum shortage risks create a favorable short-term pricing setup. The aluminum market is increasingly exposed to supply disruptions at a time when inventories remain relatively tight. The Middle East conflict alone has resulted in announced curtailments of more than 2,500 kmt of annual aluminum smelting capacity and nearly 2,000 kmt of refining capacity, while disruptions to the Strait of Hormuz have constrained raw-material flows and shipping availability. For Alcoa, the key point is that these disruptions are primarily a market-level catalyst rather than an operational threat. The company’s geographically diversified and integrated production base allows it to participate in higher aluminum pricing.
2. Bauxite supply from Guinea, represents an additional source of uncertainty for value chain. Guinea is one of the world’s major bauxite suppliers, and the market is increasingly focused on potential changes to the country’s export policy. Alcoa has previously noted that Guinea’s export policy could become an important directional signal for bauxite pricing, while higher freight costs are already supporting delivered prices despite relatively weak FOB pricing. Russian export disruptions add another layer of supply uncertainty. Any sustained restriction on Russian exports would reduce available seaborne supply and could further increase regional premiums, particularly in markets already experiencing logistical constraints. Crucially, Alcoa has limited direct exposure to these specific risks.
3. Alcoa’s portfolio is becoming more competitive and integrated. Alcoa has also strengthened its structural positioning through the announced $4.1 billion acquisition of South32's bauxite, alumina and aluminum assets in Australia, Brazil and South Africa. The transaction is expected to generate approximately $900 million of net present value from synergies and should improve Alcoa’s position on the global aluminum and alumina cost curves.
We recommend a long position in Alcoa with a price target of $60 and a stop-loss of $34. The setup is primarily a near-term aluminum price repricing opportunity: mounting supply-side risks across several major producing regions could tighten the global market and support higher aluminum prices and regional premiums.
