  • U.S. retail sales fell 0.6% MoM in July vs. +0.1% expected. Both the core measure and control group declined, pointing to softer consumer demand

  • Moderna (MRNA) and Merck (MRK) reported positive Phase 3 results for a personalized mRNA melanoma vaccine combined with Keytruda. The therapy reduced recurrence risk, sending Moderna up 177% and Merck >12%
  • July FOMC minutes showed a divided Fed on the path for rates. Policymakers remained concerned about above-target inflation despite continued labor-market resilience
