Vantage Data Centers, one of the largest operators and developers of data centers for hyperscalers, is considering an IPO at a company valuation of about $100 billion or selling the business to a strategic buyer. According to sources at Reuters familiar with the situation, one of these options could be pursued as early as next year. If Vantage does go public at such a valuation, it would be the largest IPO in the history of the data center sector.
In a share offering, the company could potentially raise around $10 billion. However, discussions about an IPO are at an early stage, and Vantage has not yet launched an official process to prepare the deal. The company has already held preliminary consultations with financial advisers, but a final decision on the deal structure has not yet been made.
Vantage specializes in building and operating large-scale data centers intended primarily for the largest technology companies and cloud providers. Demand for such facilities has surged thanks to the development of artificial intelligence: training and running large AI models require enormous computing power, and therefore new sites with access to electricity, cooling systems, and high-speed networks.
The company is particularly active in developing infrastructure for hyperscalers. According to S&P Global data, Vantage manages more than 2 GW of available power capacity and about 20 million square feet of space across 19 markets in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
