Freedom analysts raised the target price for Innovative Aerosystems shares to $31 from $27 and maintained their “Buy” rating. At the $23 price used in the analyst report, the new target implies upside potential of about 35%. The upgrade was driven by strong results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026 and improved prospects for further business growth.

Innovative Aerosystems is a U.S. manufacturer of aviation equipment and systems for commercial, business and military aviation. The company produces flight control systems, aviation displays, instruments and other cockpit equipment. Until August 18, its shares traded under the ticker ISSC; from August 18, the company uses the new ticker IA.

Innovative Aerosystems revenue beat market expectations by 11.5%

In the third quarter, Innovative Aerosystems revenue totaled $26.7 million, up 10.7% year over year and 13.1% versus the previous quarter. The result was 11.5% above market expectations. The company also reported that, excluding receipts from the F-16 fighter program and the contribution of acquired assets, organic growth exceeded 40% year over year.

Adjusted net income reached $6 million, more than doubling from last year. Adjusted earnings per share were $0.33, beating market expectations by 52%. Even using the company’s typical tax burden, the beat would have been about 34%.

One of the main sources of growth was the commercial aftermarket for in-service aircraft. Service revenue rose 22.2% year over year to $9.2 million. This is particularly important for the company because maintenance and repair provide higher margins and create a more recurring source of revenue.

Business aviation is becoming a new growth driver for Innovative Aerosystems

Business aviation also made a notable contribution to results. Innovative Aerosystems completed development and certification of the UMS2 system, launched production in June, and already recorded its first revenue from this area in the third quarter. Freedom analysts view the recovery in demand from business aviation as one of the factors expanding the company’s sources of growth beyond defense programs.

At the same time, the defense business remains a meaningful part of the company. Revenue related to the F-16 fighter program amounted to $5.7 million. Analysts attribute its decline versus last year to a tough comparison base: a year earlier, some orders were fulfilled earlier than usual due to building safety stock and shifting production.

Liberty Flight Deck could accelerate Innovative Aerosystems’ growth

Another factor behind the target-price revision was the Liberty Flight Deck system. It is a comprehensive cockpit equipment suite developed by Innovative Aerosystems that combines displays and other aircraft control elements.

The company received its first production contract for Liberty Flight Deck from a major Japanese developer of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. Innovative Aerosystems will develop the primary display system and avionics architecture. Production is scheduled to begin at the end of 2027, with further volume ramp expected in 2028.

According to Freedom analysts, the project is progressing slightly faster than previously expected. Liberty Flight Deck is effectively moving from a promising development to a specific production program. Successful deployment of the system could later open opportunities for its use on other new types of aircraft.

Freedom expects further revenue growth for Innovative Aerosystems

Innovative Aerosystems management maintains its long-term goal of bringing annual revenue to $250 million. To achieve this, the company plans to combine in-house development, expansion of its product lineup, efficiency improvements and acquisitions of other businesses.

Freedom analysts believe that strong reporting, growth in commercial servicing and business aviation, and the earlier start of Liberty Flight Deck implementation make the company’s future trajectory more predictable. As a result, the target price was raised to $31 and the “Buy” rating was reaffirmed.

At the same time, analysts cite among the key risks dependence on a limited number of large customers and programs, potential margin volatility, changes in defense budgets, competition in the aviation equipment market, and integration risks from acquired companies.

Freedom previously highlighted Innovative Aerosystems among investment ideas

Back in July, Freedom highlighted Innovative Aerosystems among potentially attractive investment ideas. At that time, one of the nearest catalysts for the stock was precisely the third-quarter report. Management expected quarterly revenue in the range of $24–26 million, while the actual figure later reached $26.7 million.

At the same time, strong reporting does not always lead to a higher valuation for a company. For example, Freedom recently cut its target price for Sunrun shares to $10 after revising the company’s 2026 outlook.
