  • U.S. inflation in June came in below estimates: the headline CPI declined 0.4% MoM, while the core index remained unchanged. Lower gasoline prices, with no growth in core inflation, eased price pressures.

  • U.S. retail sales rose 0.2% MoM in June, while the core metric was up 0.8%. Consumer demand remained resilient despite lower gasoline spending.

  • Alphabet reported better-than-expected results, driven by Google Cloud, whose revenue grew 82% YoY and operating income more than tripled.

  • Lockheed Martin beat expectations, raising its full-year guidance amid growth in revenue, earnings, and record new orders. Its order backlog reached $230.4bn.

  • The S&P Global services PMI grew to 53.6 points in July, versus 51.3 expected. Readings above 50 indicate an acceleration in services activity. 
  • American Express reported results generally in line with consensus, slightly raising its 2026 revenue outlook but keeping its EPS forecast unchanged.
